Implementing Human Factors Training & Developing Healthcare Staff

Spring is definitely here! We’ve been thinking about how we can spread the word about how central Human Factors are to patient safety and how we can help those of you implementing PSIRF to embed the systems-based approach.

One answer is to invest in Frontline staff and develop a faculty of Human Factors trainers, equipped with all the materials and knowledge needed to teach a range of Human Factors modules. Think modules like SEIPS, Psychological Safety, Incivility, Graded Assertiveness, Situational Awareness and Communication. Even better, we have completely refreshed the material to link each module to the SEIPS framework, ensuring your frontline staff start making those system-based connections and feel empowered to strengthen work systems to improve outcomes. **NEW** Systems After Action Review

As some of you may know, we have a passion for interprofessional education especially when we’re thinking about Human factors. We wanted to share with you our new approach to the After Action Review which blends the best of educational debriefing experience and theory with current Human Factors Systems Thinking principles: the New Systems After Action Review.

What do you think? We would love to hear your views. This Systems AAR is now included within our Two-day Systems-based PSIRF course.
