This two-day virtual workshop will equip you to confidently deliver a wide variety of Human Factors topics and patient safety concepts using a ready-to-go toolkit underpinned by educational theory. We will also explore how this can effectively be delivered to a multi-professional group.

On this course you will gain a deep and rigorous understanding of Human Factors in relation to healthcare and patient safety, no prior Human Factors training is required. In our experience healthcare professionals attending this course easily grasp the concepts, as our teaching resonates with their own real-world experiences. Our courses are facilitated by two senior healthcare professionals with significant experience in Human Factors and clinical education. This course compliments the systems-based approach taken by the National Patient Safety Strategy & Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).

This course is suitable for senior healthcare staff, including those in education, patient safety, quality and risk roles.

This virtual course is facilitated using a variety of methods including facilitated group discussion, real-time teaching, videos, breakout room activities and small group teaching practice with feedback. Course content includes: An introduction to Human Factors based on the SEIPS framework, Systems Thinking principles, Incivility and Human Performance modules such as leadership, communication, assertiveness, situational awareness, stress & wellbeing. This also includes discussion around the concepts of psychological safety, inter-professional education, facilitation and debriefing skills.
